Did You Know…
…that according to the NC Dental Board, while working to earn their DA II credential, a DAI that is employed full-time as a chair-side assistant may be trained in any dental delivery setting and allowed to perform the functions of a Dental Assistant II under the direct control and supervision of a licensed dentist? Student’s Externship / Shadowing Information
All NC Dental U DAI students are HIGHLY encouraged to complete a 36-clock-hour externship/shadowing at a dental practice of their choosing before graduation. However, this is not a graduation requirement.
Professional character and appearance are expected of all NC Dental U students while in your office at ALL times.
All NC Dental U students will have the opportunity to participate in a clinical learning experience at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine! Students who choose to participate will have an opportunity to learn alongside dental students in a state-of-the-art teaching facility. *This opportunity is not a graduation requirement.
All participating students will be required to complete a background check and must provide proof of current immunizations in addition to completing a formal orientation at ECU/SODM.
Student Liability Information
All of our currently enrolled Dental Assistant students are covered under an NC Dental U-owned Professional Liability insurance policy, even while completing shadowing or externship hours at your office. A copy of this policy will be made available upon request.
Continuing Education Services We Offer:

- Radiology for the Dental Auxiliary (NC RAD)
- Coronal Polishing
- Nitrous
- SPICE

NC Dental U Will Come To You
We offer “on-site” CE & Certification services for our Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists, Coronal Polishing, and Nitrous classes. We will travel to your office for certification in these classes with 10 or more enrolled employees.
*We charge a travel fee for between 5 and 9 employees. Email us at Info@ncdentalu.com to coordinate or with any questions!
